If you’re excited to witness the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday April 8, 2024, then there’s one paramount piece of advice I have for you: Get in the Path of Totality!
In the past few decades, scientists have begun in earnest to study the emotion of awe – that “Oh, wow!” feeling you get when you see a beautiful sunset, hold a newborn baby, or hear Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony performed live. Awe takes you out of your ordinary day-to-day consciousness and generates a new open-mindedness and sense of reverence. Awe is exhilarating. Awe is inspiring. Awe is, well … awesome.
The total phase of a solar eclipse, when the sky is dark and the corona is visible around the Sun, is a beautiful sight. The best way to observe the event during these few brief minutes is simply to look directly at this glimmering halo in the sky.
